Class Year

Class of 2027

Where are you from?

Long Island, New York

What is your favorite Biology or BMB course?

I have been taking BI 306 so far this semester with Dr. Templer, and I’ve really been enjoying the class so far! It is so interesting to me because I’ve never taken an environmental science class like this, and it feels so refreshing to learn about something slightly out of my comfort zone. I welcome the challenge! Dr. Templer’s teaching style is so engaging and I never fail to enjoy each class period.

What kind of research have you done?

I’ve participated in research in the Scott Laboratory of Comparative Cognition under Dr. Scott. I’ve been particularly working with rats in the rat academy, and day school training rats by putting them into pods with sugar water solutions and lighting to observe their learning and memory. Our research goal is to observe how rats’ past experiences lead to predictions about their future and what the neural circuity surrounding decision making is.

How did you get your research position?

I went on the BU Med Campus and BU Biology and Neuroscience pages and read through research that interested me. I then did a LOT of cold emailing to PIs asking to be involved in their research and if they had undergraduate availability.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?

Aside from being a Biology Peer Mentor, I’m also involved with BU AFix Acapella! I love singing and look forward to our performances and field trips. I also serve as community service chair at BU Nutrition and Dietetics club and enjoy combining my love for nutrition with community advocacy. I also am a board member of BU Hindu Cultural Association and plan and attend all of our Hindu festival events on campus. Besides my club involvement, I love talking long walks at night along the Charles River :))))

What is your favorite dining spot on or around campus?

My real answer is Taco Bell but my fake answer is Nud Pob in Central….best Thai food spot on campus.

What is your favorite BU memory?

My favorite BU memory is meeting my random freshman year roommates and getting along with them so well – not knowing they’d become my best best friends at BU.

What’s one BU tip you wish you knew sooner?

I used to be a chronic class skipper in college and simply going and engaging with lectures in college makes all the difference in your learning and time management. Also, taking advantage of class time during discussions to work on material you’re confused about – there’s always a plethora of resources to guide you with anything!

What are your post-graduation plans?

Attending medical school and then becoming a professor :))
