Class Year

Class of 2028

Where are you from?

Beirut, Lebanon

What is your favorite Biology or BMB course?

My favorite Biology course is BI213: Intensive Cell Biology, which I am currently taking.
Dr. Frank Naya is such a fun lecturer and makes the 9:30am class easy to stay awake in :) The class delves into the very intricate details of the cell, it has definitely been the most interesting biology course thus far.

What kind of research have you done?

I have participated in 2 main research opportunities.

This past summer, I worked at the American University of Beirut Medical Center on a study in the Psychiatry department (has not yet been published!). I worked closely with a team of researchers, my main role was data collection and inputting data into the system.

In July 2023, I worked in the Azzi Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The project was focused on the rejection of transplanted organs.

How did you get your research position?

Cold emails! More effective than you think :)

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?

I am a part of the Pre-med society, BU Red Cross, BU Minority Association of Pre-Medical/Health Students (BU MAPS), BU Arab Student Organization, and BU Lebanese Club.

What is your favorite dining spot on or around campus?

My favorite on campus is definitely Basho and off campus is Cava. Honorable off-campus mention: Matsunori near Fenway campus

What is your favorite BU memory?

In freshman spring, the first day that the sun came out and it was finally (relatively) warm after the long winter and everyone was on BU beach enjoying the weather.

What’s one BU tip you wish you knew sooner?

Do not rely on the T!!!! The bus or walking will get you there faster 90% of the time.

What are your post-graduation plans?

Medical school! Possibly take a gap year before.
