Joy attended the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies annual conference in Washington D.C. Joy participated in UROP with Dr. Suzanne Pineles, Assistant Professor at BU School of Medicine prior to her trip. Joy was able to present her research, conducted through the Boston VA Healthcare Systems in the Women’s Sciences Division and National Center for PTSD, at the PTSD Special Interest Group Exposition. She was also able to attend talks with experts in the field.

This was my first experience traveling by myself and attending a national conference. It was an amazing opportunity for me to network with professionals and other students, as well as learn from experts in the field of behavioral and cognitive therapies. As a Neurobiology major who is interested in pursuing a career studying neurological diseases, this conference was invaluable, in that I could attend lectures and poster sessions about neuro/psych research.

For her trip, Joy was sponsored by Dr. Hengye Man in the Biology Department and awarded a $500 grant.
