The purpose of the Biology Department graduate student emergency funds is to provide relief to current Biology PhD and Biology MS students facing unexpected or sudden financial hardship. These are broad guidelines, as situations needing emergency funds may vary from student to student. If you are unsure if your situation warrants emergency funds, please fill out the below form. We will do our best to help students in need, whether it’s through Department funds or through another resource.

Please note that Biology Department emergency funds are limited and vary on an annual basis. Partial or full fund approvals are not guaranteed. Approvals may also vary depending on the Department emergency fund status at the time of the request; similar requests may be approved in one year but denied in another depending on the amount of funds budgeted and disbursed in that particular year.

If approved, funds will likely be disbursed as a reimbursement. All funds must be disbursed in accordance with University guidelines.

This form is for current Biology PhD or Biology MS students only. If you are a non-Biology graduate student in a Biology lab, please contact your academic program administrator for assistance.
