Congratulations to John Finnerty and his team for their recently published paper in Caribbean Herpetology, describing snakes, lizards, and toads populating the terrestrial habitats of Calabash Caye. The Calabash Caye is a small mangrove-dominated island near the eastern Turneffe Atoll, Belize. The city of Turneffe Atoll is home to the unique, most extensive, and most biodiverse marine protected habitats in Belize, which are among the most threatened habitats in the world. From 2012 to 2019, Finnerty and his team have photographed herpetofauna of Calabash Caye during a 12-day period in November or December. The photographs capture the detailed anatomy of undiscovered species of lizards, a snake, and a toad.
