Richard Logothetis, a first year Arts Administration student, has received a $1,000 grant from The BU Arts Initiative – Office of the Provost. The grant will go to support his project, Witness, a concert honoring the victims of last year’s Pulse Nightclub Shooting. The funds will help cover costs of music, space rental, and artist fees for the musicians, many of whom are students here at BU.

The Arts Initiative is a BU program designed to encourage student participation in the arts and promote integration of the arts with other disciplines. In addition to the programs they put on within the BU community, the Arts Initiative offers several funding opportunities for BU students working in the arts. All these applications can be found on the Arts Initiative’s website.

The project will be presented in partnership with MetroWest Opera and Old West Church. Richard works as MetroWest Opera’s Development Director and helped broker a creative partnership between the two organizations. Witness will happen on Tuesday, June 13 2017 at Old West Church and will feature music by Durufle, Barber, and a new composition by Richard.

Richard would like to thank Ty Furman and the BU Arts Initiative for supporting his work. He would also like to thank Michael Ibrahim. The lessons learned in his grant writing class enabled Richard to craft an effective appeal for support. Finally, he would like to thank Lanfranco Aceti and everyone in the Arts Administration program who has helped Richard and provided advice for the project.
