Hannah Gathman (’12)
Hannah Gathman (MET ’12, CAS ’09) is the Director of Events and Social Programs at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston. Hired as the ICA’s Special Events Manager in 2012, Hannah’s role has expanded to overseeing 60+ events annually, from fundraisers and donor stewardship events to First Fridays, ICA After 5, and other programs geared at broadening and engaging the ICA’s audience.
Prior to joining the ICA, Hannah worked in BU’s Development and Alumni Relations department as Assistant Director of Alumni Programs and Events while she pursued her master’s degree. She received her bachelor’s degree in Art History from BU’s College of Arts and Sciences in 2009.
Hannah’s hobbies include cooking, crafting, taking pictures of food, and re-learning to play her oboe.
The Arts Administration program gave me a gift-wrapped network of arts professionals in Boston and beyond. My catch phrase at work has become “Hey, I know X person from my master’s degree!” which has made information sharing and networking so easy over the past few years. The program also opened my eyes to issues that come up nearly daily in my job (price vs. value, anyone?) giving me an extremely practical base of knowledge for the art world.
