Fields Corner Main Street is currently looking for an assistant program manager.

DESCRIPTION

Fields Corner Main Street is one of twenty Main Street Districts in Boston. Their mission is to ensure that Fields Corner continues to serve its residents and attract visitors through its thriving, welcoming, secure business district and community of diverse entrepreneurs. FCMS is an accredited non-profit with a dedicated board of volunteer directors that are committed to working towards Fields Corner’s continued success.

FCMS district has a lot to offer. From delicious frozen yogurt parlors to automotive shops, the range of businesses and public amenities it contains ensures that you’ll easily find your needs met. Other retailers and service providers in our community include attorneys; accountants; jewelry shops; discount stores; insurance and travel agencies; tax advisors; real estate brokers, and hair stylists. Fields Corner is also home to several major banks; a post office; a co-working business lab; a public library branch; a community health center with a pool; two public parks; a senior center; and a supermarket in our central mall which serves surrounding residential neighborhoods.

For those unfamiliar with Fields Corner, our neighborhood is just outside the newly renovated Fields Corner T Station on the MBTA Ashmont branch of the Red Line. FCMS’s bustling district has much to offer both residents and visitors, and is the perfect place to run errands, experience something new, or enjoy yourself at one of our many shops or restaurants.

POSITION SUMMARY

Pay: $20-$22 per hour
Position type: Entry level
Hours: Part-Time Flexible, Requires Evening & Weekend Commitments

Job description:

We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Program Manager to take initiative and help lead Fields Corner’s yearly community events including Open Streets, Dorchester Day, Fields Corner Block Party, Love Your Block, Holiday Tree Lighting, and the much-anticipated Asphalt Mural Unveiling this summer.

This role requires you to be more than just a “people person”. You must really mean it. Directly engaging with the Fields Corner community is a huge part of the job. Friendly, enthusiastic, and resilient personalities will thrive in this role. We love our district, and we want you to fall in love with it, too!

You will be directly supporting the Executive Director’s efforts in the planning and execution of these events- strong organizational and prioritizing skills are required, including:

*Calendar management
*Communicating with vendors
*Liaising with stakeholders
*Volunteer coordination
*Design and disbursement of event promotional materials

Qualifications:

If you are currently enrolled in an Arts Administration program and/or have an interest in the nonprofit sector, this is an excellent, entry-level opportunity. We will provide you with the necessary training to excel in this role; and we ask that you bring your creativity and enthusiasm to learn.

*Strong communication skills both written and verbal
*Social media savvy
*Adaptable under pressure and can make good judgements
*Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision
*Flexible schedule and able to attend weekend and evening events

Other requirements:

Living in the district is a plus, but not mandatory
A valid driver’s license
The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
