Job: Summer Youth Programs Coordinator
Berkshire Music School’s Summer Youth Programs Coordinator provides support to the Executive Director, Registrar, and Marketing Manager in promoting, communicating, and running BMS’s summer youth program: Adventures in Music.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Summer Youth Programs Coordinator will facilitate a small staff of 3-5 adult faculty members, intern(s), and 15-20 students ages 5-9 each session. She/he will oversee the day-to-day program operations (including set-up and clean-up), supervise and assist the teaching staff, be the first point of communication for all parents/guardians and look after the students who need the extended day option. Program sessions will run 10am-4pm (with the extended day option of 9am-10am, and 4pm-5pm, as needed) Tuesday-Friday, June 20-23, and Monday-Friday, June 26-30. The Summer Youth Programs Coordinator will also help organize and run the final performance for parents/guardians at the end of each program session and be knowledgeable about/advocate for different BMS programs.
Adventures in Music originated in 2021 and is in its third year as BMS’s summer youth program. It is designed for young music lovers to give a solid foundation in making music in a fun, engaging atmosphere. Participants enjoy group classes in introduction to music, chorus, and creative movement on the tented lawn of BMS’s historic campus, as well as small group workshops in piano, drama, visual arts, percussion, and more. The ideal candidate will bring new ideas to the table on how to enhance the program and be involved in the planning of program activities. The Summer Youth Programs Coordinator may be assigned to other duties, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must be energetic, professional, friendly, creative, and detail-oriented with the ability to work with children and adults in a fast-paced environment
- Previous professional experience working with children at a school and/or summer program
- Passion and knowledge of music/the arts
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Must be comfortable working inside and outdoors, and must be comfortable lifting chairs, supplies, etc.
- CPR certified is a plus

Founded in 1940 by Winnie Davis Long Crane, the Berkshire Music School is dedicated to providing quality education in music, and musical opportunities to people in the greater Berkshire community, regardless of race, sex, religion, ethnic origin, age, or disability.
