PT Job: Development Manager
The Development Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to create and manage BOC’s robust development plan.
We are seeking a strategic, communicative, and hands-on individual to focus on our individual giving, corporate sponsors, and special events. The Development Manager will work behind the scenes to oversee donor cultivation strategies and development communications and, at times, will serve as a public-facing ambassador to bolster support for the company amongst our dedicated and growing donor base.
Status: Part-Time (15 hours/week), non-exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: N/A
REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain a deep understanding of BOC’s mission, vision, and programming
- Have a working knowledge of BOC’s donor base, giving history, and donor-giving potential, continually using our audience list to identify potential donors and cultivate relationships
- Work collaboratively with members of the BOC staff, Board, and Development Committee to plan and execute specific fundraising campaigns to meet the company’s goals
- Serve as a compelling ambassador for BOC
- Bring new ideas and strategies to be individual and institutional fundraising efforts and support strategies and initiatives implemented by BOC’s Executive Director and Development Committee
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Individual Giving
- Assist in developing a comprehensive donor communications and cultivation plan to maximize continued support and engagement.
- Manage and craft donor acknowledgment, stewardship, and fulfillment programs for all donors (individual and institutional).
- Assist in individual donor cultivation and stewardship through thank-you and follow-up phone calls and on-site events and performances.
- Research constituents to provide profiles with biographical data, philanthropic interests, and recent philanthropic support.
- Organize and set up meetings between Executive Director and donor prospects.
- Research and identify corporate sponsorship opportunities
- Assist with planning and execution of end-of-year Annual Campaign solicitations.
- Produce solicitation materials, including biannual appeal letters, thank you letters, and the like
Special Events
- Assist Executive Director with fundraising special event planning and execution, including but not limited to venue and vendor liaising, invitation distribution and RSVP management, day of event assistance, and post-event follow-up
Data Tracking/Analysis/Reporting
- Oversee and manage BOC’s donor base (Arts People) by ensuring consistent usage and accurate/detailed records of gifts, interactions, receipt and acknowledgments, and report generation
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 1-3 years of administrative or office experience; professional experience in a non-profit, arts administration, opera, or fundraising a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks fluidly. Keen attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- A collaborative style conducive to supporting ongoing work with internal and external partners.
- Collaborative attitude, tact, and discretion in managing sensitive information.
- Experience with event planning and management is desirable.
- An interest in, or aptitude for, the arts and opera field is desirable
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Openness to learning new skill sets and a can-do attitude and approach to projects
