Job: Assistant to the Director

 

The Guild of Boston Artists is looking to fill the position of Assistant to the Director with a motivated, highly organized and personable administrator and sales associate. This individual will assist the director with the daily operations of the Guild organization and gallery through administrative, logistical, and practical tasks including but not limited to:

  • Updating and maintaining the gallery’s inventory records
  • Updating and maintaining the Guild’s website and artist/exhibition profiles on Artsy.net
  • Designing elegant and engaging advertising materials including posters, email newsletters, and social media graphics.
  • Managing the Guild’s social media presence – creating content and scheduling posts to go out 3-5 times per week on Instagram and Facebook while populating our YouTube profile with new content generated by our members. Special attention should be paid to promoting ongoing exhibitions and upcoming events.
  • Communicating with artists and patrons via email or phone in a logistical capacity
  • Assisting in the installation of artwork for exhibition as well as handling and packaging artwork for storage and shipment
  • Supporting the director in the realization of all events including exhibitions, receptions, and educational programs
  • Selling artwork, working with patrons, and acting as liaison between artists and patrons when a negotiation is involved or a commission is made.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in art history or arts administration
  • Sales experience and knowledge of contemporary American art desired
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Canva, and Squarespace Website Builder
  • Experience handling art objects desired
  • Must be willing to work weekends – Gallery hours: Tues-Sat 10:30am-5:30pm

Part-time (3 days per week 10:30am-5:30pm)
$19 per hour
