Artist in Residence: M Dougherty Olfactory
Have you ever heard of olfactory art? It is a thing, and it’s pretty cool. We are looking forward to having M Dougherty in residence at BU April 24 to 28. In addition to class and lab visits, M will host a workshop for students at EPIC, an Out in STEM luncheon, and an exhibit and talk (free and open to the public).
In partnership with Meg Younger (Biology), BU Department of Biology, and the BU Center for Systems Neuroscience. In addition to class and studio visits, M will be featured in the following events. RSVP required for all events.
Monday, April 24 – 6 pm to 8 pm. Manufacturing Scented Objects. At Engineering Product Innovation Center (EPIC) Workshop (BU Students Only) at EPIC – 750 Commonwealth Ave. RSVP
Thursday, April 27 – 3:30 pm to 6 pm. Scentience: A Collection of Olfactory Expressions – Installation & Talk. First Floor – Center for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering (CILSE) 610 Commonwealth Ave. RSVP (Exhibit open from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, talk at 4:30 pm.) Explore the creative work of M Dougherty in this pop-up installation of olfactory art, including an Odor Organ. Then hear from the artist about their current and upcoming projects. All chemicals used in the exhibit are safe and non-toxic. (Free and Open to the public)
Friday, April 28 – 12 pm to 1:30 pm. Out in STE(A)M Luncheon (BU Community Only)
