MIT’s Office of Innovation is looking for an Events Intern.


The Office of Innovation is a team of unceasingly inquisitive, data-obsessed problem-solvers that support the process of innovation—from idea through impact. Through our stewardship of iHQ, we engage and inspire the community that designs, builds, and executes the next generation of world-changing discoveries at MIT.

The Events Intern at Office of Innovation will assist the Events Manager in coordinating events from a logistical perspective, touring the facility with Event Hosts, and attending events to ensure adherence to Innovation Headquarters Event Policy. DESCRIPTION:
– Report to Events Manager and Facilities Administrator daily with questions and action items to be addressed.
– Field Event Request forms in Airtable.
– Reach out to prospective Event Hosts with tentative confirmations and quotes for pricing.
– Become knowledgeable on event policies and protocol.
– Schedule and attend Facilities Walkthroughs with Event Hosts to ensure Facilities Walkthrough Checklist is completed for each event.
– Check in with Event Hosts on the day of event to reiterate iHQ Event Policy to Event Hosts, remind hosts to reset the rooms upon event conclusion.
– Communicate regularly with Event Hosts to ensure adherence to event policy and fulfillment of necessary tasks, including work orders, loading dock access, and the Post Event Checklist.
– Maintaining and updating materials within the Event Space Informational Binders.
– Assist Events Manager and Senior Program Manager to celebrate and recognize major I&E achievements and events on social media platforms.
General Skills and Requirements:
– Proficient multitasker and efficient problem solver.
– Proactive communicator and confident asker of questions.
– Displays a strong sense of urgency.
– Attend events in the MIT Hacker Reactor and other areas of iHQ to observe on a regular basis (3-4/week). Evening availability required.
