Job: Assistant Director of Annual Fund and Corporate Giving
The Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, MA seeks an Assistant Director of Annual Fund and Corporate Giving.
Status: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Chief Development Officer
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director of Annual Fund and Corporate Giving works closely with the Chief Development Officer and oversees annual giving appeals, gift processing/acknowledgements/reporting and portfolio management for a small, ambitious development operation. This position is also responsible for building the corporate giving program through active prospecting and nurturing relationships with supporters to encourage increased support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
- Oversee all data entry, gift processing and acknowledgments for fund raising activities unearned revenue.
- Ensure data quality by executing best practices for portfolio management within database (staff officer assignments, donor recognition, attribute/constituency codes, membership levels).
- Prepare monthly reports, reconciling with Finance accounts, and coordinating yearly budget projections process with the Chief Development Officer.
- Direct Longy’s Annual Fund program, ensure financial targets are met and supporter benefits are fulfilled.
- Develop digital and hardcopy Annual Fund solicitations and campaigns, including building solicitation lists, development of message, and design collateral in conjunction with a graphic designer
- Working closely with the Assistant Director of Events and Donor Engagement, co-develop engagement strategies to convert prospects to new donors.
- Ensure retention of new donors by employing relationship building strategies
- Working closely with Associate Director of Major and Planned Giving to vet $250 and $500 Friends level donors for increased annual fund asks and major and planned gift prospecting.
- Direct Longy’s Corporate Giving program, ensure financial targets are met and supporter benefits are fulfilled.
- Conducting detailed background research on current donors and donor prospects.
- Other duties as necessary and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial, results-driven style and the ability to identify and implement strategic approaches to fundraising and constituency development. They will thrive in an environment of growth and collaborative decision-making. They will possess:
- Two or more years of experience or demonstrated potential in annual fund work, corporate giving, prospect research, and fundraising campaigns.
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and basic prospect research databases (The Foundation Center, iWave Pro) is strongly preferred.
- Self-confidence, flexibility, excellent judgment, and a high degree of discretion.
- A proactive “customer-centered” orientation.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong writing skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary,
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to work independently.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree and/or additional fundraising coursework are a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite, Constant Contact preferred
- Knowledge of, and affinity for, the arts and/or music would be helpful.
