Hostile Terrain 94 Installation
Join the BU Arts Initiative and the College of Arts & Sciences for a series of programs associated with the Hostile Terrain 94 installation at Boston University, illuminating the humanitarian crisis occurring at the United States’ southern border.
The human toll of the “Prevention Through Deterrence” policy is commemorated through the installation of over 3,200 toe-tags listing the names or other identifying information as well as the location of the corpses of migrants found in these borderlands.
Students and BU community members can participate in assembling the installation by completing these tags that are placed on an enlarged wall map of the desert showing the exact locations where the remains were found. You can view the installation as it progresses on the second-floor landing of the George Sherman Union.
