Graduate Forum Call for Papers

03_Berlin_Wall_Mall

The IAVC Grad Forum invites proposals for “flash” presentations of research by current and recent graduate students in visual culture and related fields as part of the IAVC 2016 Conference: THE SOCIAL. Particular attention will be given to research engaging questions of migration, hospitality, art and politics, and ecological transformation across time and space.

We are offering a platform for an open transnational dialogue between artists, writers, cultural workers, activists, and researchers. Proposals for 5 min presentations should be no more than 500 words and submitted by April 15, 2016 to iavcgradforum@gmail.com. Links welcome.

Applicants should also include a short 2-3 sentence biography indicating their university and/or professional affiliations, as well as their special areas of interest in their research and/or cultural practice. They should also include a link to a previous piece of writing, published or unpublished. While we hope that most candidates will be able to present in-person in Boston, accommodations will be made for a selected few who cannot travel to present via a web video submitted to the forum one week before the conference.
