There are 13 comments on What Does Donald Trump’s Election Mean For…

  1. America has significanty changed forever, at least in our lifetimes, and not for the better… As sad as it is to see, America will now get what its public called for… I just hope those who voted to embrace this outrage will remember the ill fated mission they have placed us on…

  2. The American citizens have spoken! Great day for democracy!

After 8 years of Biden and his supporters bashing the American citizens, we have spoken! It is a great day for democracy in the USA and the world.
I do not remember reading any pro-Trump articles or expert opinions in BU Today. Will there be a media reckoning? Will the media reconnect with the majority of voters or keep representing the elites?

      1. Thank you Catiline
You probably won’t find many others… most BU Today political opinion articles tend to lean one way unfortunately, such as this one… I have previously expressed the hope that such articles include both political viewpoints (and possibly a third unbiased one). One can only hope… Meanwhile, with respect to the recent elections, the outcome (whether we like it or not) represents the will of the majority… that is what democracy is… right?

  3. He says he is for “the people” but does nothing for the middle or lower class. His plan has so many conservative changes he wants to implement that will increase our taxed – especially the tariffs.
I am so worried about the education changes – all for profit. WIC program and healthcare changes will not be good. He has created an “Un-United States of America”.
Women and children will suffer from this. We will go back in time!
Our planet is in dire need of help, climate change is real, and his policies will make it worse.
I worry about my daughter, and the rights she will now have removed.

  4. For all the rhetoric we heard about ‘preserving democracy’ from the Team that was actively pursuing censorship of views they didn’t like .. yeah, from the sameTeam that kinda pulled a soft coup in replacing their candidate when the Politburo didn’t think he could win, anointing a new candidate that never survived a primary .. well they got a Master’s level class in Democracy on Tuesday!

A very clear majority of the electorate, all walks and stripes within the country, rose up and said ENOUGH! Enough of the ‘open borders’ .. Enough of the rise in crime and fentanyl in our communities .. Enough funding of endless foreign wars in countries that most of The People can’t find on a map .. Enough of the rampant inflation caused by out of control governmental spending, etc etc etc. The majority was resounding in repudiating the past four years of Biden Administration. Trump’s electoral win was equally MASSIVE!

The ‘abortion issue’ IS important, but not nearly as much to the American household/individuals as being able to feed their families, buy gas, pay rent, etc etc .. the matter is now firmly in the hands of each state .. some have gone ‘more conservative’ while others have gone ‘more progressive’ BUT each state is following the will of its own electorate – and THAT’S democracy at work .. the federal government should have never been in your bedroom in the first place!

Now the work begins .. and before he even is inaugurated, Russia thinks it’s a good idea to re-set things and end the war .. Hamas is ready for peace .. Houthi’s have also come to the table .. China wants to dial things down .. STRENGTH beats WEAKNESS and we’ve been almost impossibly weak for the past four years!

Inflation and the economy will be a tough putt, but I’d not recommend betting against Trump .. let’s let Elon Musk loose on picking up efficiencies in government with DOGE .. lets get RFK Jr after the health agencies which are terribly corrupted .. there is SO MUCH to do, and as Americans we should ALL be rooting for success – instead of shaving our heads, talking of fleeing the country (which you’ll never do), screaming in public making a pathetic skeptical of oneself, etc etc etc .. Cheer for America, a healthy and prosperous country isn’t really all that bad of a goal – and we’ll be FAR more capable of helping others when we’re stronger here!

And if you’re totally unsatisfied, as most of the electorate was after Biden promised to govern as a moderate, only to deliver four years of a wild left hand turn, then mobilize and win the next election.

    THAT’S how democracy works!

  5. Well. Good luck to the pathetic, polluted trash hole this place will become. Expanded drilling, mining, fracking on sacred public lands. Our National Parks. Alignment with more dictators. Less freedom and right for all. A bigger police/surveillance state, more guns on the streets, less education, less protection for workers/anti-unionism, less protection for voters of color, LGBTQIA voters, hyper-corporatism, white/far-right nationalism, more militarism = more conflict and war. I could go on, but I think intelligent people know the bottom line and its not looking good for the average person.
Be on the look out for the return of Jim Crow and another outbreak of some kind of pandemic.

  6. I know not many people will agree with me when i say this, but I’m actually concerned about the laws he’s trying to set for the LGBTQIA+ community. I, myself am apart of the community (Trans and Bisexual to be specific) and am actually worried about the trans youth. There’s likely going to be a higher chance of $uicid3, mainly because without having that gender-affirming care, they’ll likely not “fit in” with those of their desired gender at school and be bullied due to those reasons, thus leading to higher rates in $uicid3 among youth. I may be thinking too much about this, but I’m still concerned overall. Even if I’m thinking too much about this.

  7. Ask yourself this, was it bad the last time, compared to Biden/Harris, NO, He did a lot of great things for our country. And you have to look at how many times we were headed for government shut downs, funding the wars and not helping our own here in America during disasters. Atleast with him, you know what’s going to happen, he says it, he does it, the others lie, tell us stories, then when the sh**t hits the fan, they lie again.

  8. Trump is not holding back this time. He will truly change America back to a great nation. Matt Gaetz and RFK should be able to shake things up a bit. Looking forward to the next 4 years.

    1. A lawyer for Trump has just confirmed that what Trump has planned for day one on illegal immigration will cause “shock and awe”. He is going to deport all the illegal gang members first, and quickly! This is what the People voted for.
