Scarlet Key Honor Society

It’s time to nominate rising seniors from the Class of 2023 for the Scarlet Key Honor Society. In addition, we are also accepting nominations for Honorary Scarlet Key members that can include alumni, faculty, or staff.

Consideration for the Scarlet Key is based on:

Accomplishments in academics, athletics, student activities, or service that has enriched our community and/or brought recognition or honor to our University
Members who have exhibited exceptional leadership among their peers

Please note that nominations must remain confidential and that students should not seek individuals to nominate them. Additionally, students may not submit nominations for themselves or others.

Nominees will be notified of their Scarlet Key candidacy in August 2022. Only accepted nominees will be notified; however, all nominators will be notified of the outcome of their nomination.

Inductees to the Scarlet Key Honor Society are those students who have exhibited exceptional leadership among their peers during their years at Boston University. Selection for Scarlet Key is based on excellence in University student activities and organizations, commitment, involvement in the individual’s School or College, and in scholarship.

Only Boston University faculty and administrators may nominate students. Students may not self-nominate. Nominations must be submitted online using this form.

Submit an honorary nomination

Recipients of the Honorary Scarlet Key Award are University alumni, faculty, staff, and other community members who have made substantial contributions to student life at Boston University. Honorary Scarlet Key selection is based on the individual’s commitment to the University community and service to the student body.

Members of the BU community cannot self-nominate. Nominations must be submitted online using this form.
