As an anthropologist, Condry studies cultural flow across borders (e.g., hip-hop, anime). Sunanda K. Sanyal “Kimono Wednesdays”: Unpacking the Mechanics of Cultural Appropriation Professor of Art History & Critical Studies, Lesley University College of Art and Design, Sanyal focuses on the politics of representation and identity; and contemporary artists from former colonies in global discourses. André de Quadros Stealing my Song: Exploring Narratives, Repertoires, Geographies Professor of Music at Boston University, de Quadros is a conductor, scholar, music educator, and human rights activist. His professional work has taken him to over forty countries. MODERATOR: Sarah Frederick, Associate Professor of Japanese and Comparative Literature, BU. Frederick specializes in 20th-century Japanese literature and history, relationships among mass media, modern literature, gender, and culture.
