Bold Determination: Martin Luther King, Jr & the Montgomery Bus Boycott

With Prof. Walter Fluker, STH and Ryan Hendrickson, HGARC Join the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center as we explore one of the seminal moments in the Civil Rights Movement: the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This seminar will showcase several items from the King Collection regarding the groundbreaking boycott, including letters, photographs, documents chronicling the struggle for justice of the boycott’s organizers and participants. The material will include drafts of speeches by Martin Luther King, Jr.; letters from Rosa Parks, Ella Baker, Ralph Bunche, A. Philip Randolph, Ralph Abernathy, and others; and numerous items from the Montgomery Improvement Association.
