Central Maine Medical Center – Dr. Bethany Picker

At Central Maine Medical Center students have the opportunity to work directly with both residents and attendings.  Students will see patients in the outpatient clinic for the majority of the rotation, including rotating through a procedure clinic, and they will do one week on the inpatient service working directly with residents on the admission and care of hospitalized patients, including pediatrics and maternity care. Students will be included in resident didactic time and will have their own weekly educational meetings.

As a clinic we serve a diverse population.  We not only have the typical family medicine mix of ages, but we also have a large integrated refugee population from Somalia as well as many other countries in Africa and the Far East.  For the residents we have an optional Wilderness and International Medicine Program (the WIMPs) that provides added experiences and learning opportunities.  Medical students rotating here are welcome to all educational and extra-curricular activities.

We provide housing and food.
