The 2015 Annual Chinese Speech Contest
4:30pm-6:30 pm, October 29th in CGS 511, 871 Commonwealth Ave.
The Chinese program at Boston University is proud to announce the 2015 Chinese Speech Contest. We invite all students whose native language is not Chinese and who are taking Chinese classes at BU to display their language skills in this good-spirited competition. We also have games for all the audience to learn Chinese culture and win gifts. The contest will be followed by an award ceremony with prizes and a reception with delicious dessert! Open to public.

The contest is open to current students of Chinese whose native language is not Chinese from Boston University! Contestants will be divided into four groups.
Tentative Groups (The groups may be slightly modified according to the number of the applicants) Croup 1: Elementary (Students from LC111, LC112) Group 2: Intermediate (Students from LC211, LC212) Group 3: Advanced (Students from LC 311, LC312, LC411) Group 4: Heritage speakers (Students from LC116, and students of Chinese who are heritage speakers at BU)

Awards:
For each group, there will be up to 2 Gold Award Winners, up to 2 Silver Award Winners and up to 3 Bronze Award Winners. There is also a “Most Popular Speaker” award for each group, which is selected by the audience on site.
Important Notes:
- Chinese instructors will encourage students to participate and solicit written draft of speeches/scripts. The teacher will then select 1-4 students from each class and recommend them to the contest committee.
- Finalists should encourage their friends to come to see the event because the audience will vote for the “Most Popular Speaker” award.
- All speeches and skits should be original work of the contestants.
- If a selected contestant wishes not to participate, he/she must notify the contest committee by October 20th, 2015. Contestants must arrive on time.
- We welcome one to two short talent shows (less than 3 minutes) for our contest. If you are interested in performing in the contest, please email lilingh@bu.edu by Oct. 10th, 2015.
