Form: Additional Dissertation Funds for Doctoral Students
Students who have successfully passed their proposal hearing may submit this form to request support expenses directly related to their dissertation research (up to $1,000 per student in AY25-26). Students can access these funds any time between passing their proposal hearing and defending their dissertation.
Awards may carry over from one year to the next but are not replenished (for example, a student may use a portion of the funds in one year for participant payments and the remaining portion in another year for software support). Sixth-year students are eligible to request these funds.
Eligible expenses include:
- Participant payments (typically in the form of gift cards)
- Coding and analysis software
- Database access
- Transcription services
- Travel to data collection sites
- Research assistant (faculty advisor must be willing to serve as the official supervisor)
Note: The funds cannot be used for conference travel, tuition, or stipend support.
