BU Wheelock Partners with Bahrain Teachers College

BU Wheelock announced a partnership with Bahrain Teachers College to support graduate and education professional development for practicing and aspiring school leaders in Bahrain. The partnership provides Bahraini educators with affordable online access to BU Wheelock’s master of education (EdM) in educational leadership & policy studies.

Starting in fall 2022, Bahraini educators can enroll in the online program and receive a scholarship by applying through the Bahrain Teachers College agreement. They will finish the eight-course degree focusing on school leadership development in two years.

“The Boston University-Bahrain Teachers College partnership will provide positive outcomes for educational reform in Bahrain,” says Ted Purinton, dean of Bahrain Teachers College. “We anticipate that the EdM program will allow school leaders in the country to implement high impact practices in their schools and to build their leadership skills.”

Affiliated with the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Teachers College is responsible for all teacher preparation and professional development in Bahrain. The new partnership is one of several partner programs that BU Wheelock facilitates to expand access to higher education for national and international education professionals.

“Our partnership with Bahrain Teachers College continues the BU Wheelock tradition of international offerings in education through a distance delivery of our master’s program to private school teachers in Bahrain,” says David Chard, dean of BU Wheelock.  “We are excited to welcome virtually our newest cohort of international graduate students.”
