EdM in Curriculum & Teaching
The Master of Education (EdM) in Curriculum & Teaching at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development supports your development as a practicing or aspiring educator. You will have the flexibility to pursue the educational issues that interest you most as you prepare to be an outstanding leader in teaching, coaching, and research positions. This flexible program is offered both in person and fully online.
The EdM in Curriculum & Teaching emphasizes the professional talents of planning and designing instruction, creating a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum, broadening and deepening the knowledge base of one’s teaching, and evaluating the results of teaching. Our goal is to graduate educators who are knowledgeable and innovative in a demanding and rewarding profession.

EdM in Curriculum & Teaching Program Requirements (In person and online)
Whether you are a student in the in-person or online EdM in Curriculum & Teaching program, you can choose to enroll in one of the following content tracks, engaging in coursework centered on both content and pedagogy specific to the particular subject:
- Elementary Education
- English Education
- English as a Second Language Education
- Math Education
- Science Education
- Social Studies Education
- Special Education
Students in the EdM in Curriculum & Teaching program work collaboratively with their advisors to develop a customized course of study. Several pathways that are specifically designed for online students, Teach for America corps members, and fellows affiliated with one of BU Wheelock’s partnering educational organizations. Students also have the opportunity to take a number of courses with educators across the disciplines, by taking classes such as Curriculum Design, Family & Community Engagement, Classroom Discourse, and Classroom Assessment.
