Get Involved
There are several ways to get involved in supporting the College Access & Student Services programs: be a volunteer, become a mentor, or give your financial support. However you choose to become involved in CASS programs, we look forward to getting to know you.
Be a Volunteer
Current volunteer and partnership opportunities:
- Work for BUILD, Upward Bound, or Upward Bound Math Science
- Promote external volunteer opportunities to Community Scholars. To learn more, email Clare Fitzgerald.
Become a Mentor
Mentors have an impact and contribute to the fact that CASS programs retain and graduate scholars at rates higher than the University average. All of the CASS undergraduate programs entail a faculty or staff mentor. These mentors volunteer time during their workday to share themselves and their experiences with undergraduates.
Mentors are recruited on a rolling basis during the spring semester. They must be available for a half-day training during the summer prior to the academic year they intend to begin mentoring. Please complete the CASS Mentoring Application or reach out to Clare Fitzgerald.
Give Your Financial Support
The university supports all of CASS’s vital programs, with the aid of grants and generous donors. Donor support is particularly important to CASS and helps ensure our success in many ways:
- Sponsor mentor training and professional development or enable mentors and students to visit or participate in local cultural, arts, or science-related events
- Pay for campus visits by precollege students and their parents; undergraduates’ travel to study abroad; or the cost of summer housing for internships or research
- Support community-building activities that promote peer support and foster a community of care
