Students are assigned an advisor during the admissions process. Academic advisors are here to guide you through your time at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. They work with students to ensure they are meeting academic requirements, assist with registration questions, and provide general support to all their advisees.

BU Wheelock has a dual advising model for all undergraduate students. Students will have a professional advisor from Student Services and a faculty mentor which will assist students through their transition into BU Wheelock in learning about resources and prepare to build their academic pursuits within the college’s offering.

Reasons to Seek Out an Advisor

Academic advisors can help students in a number of ways, which include (but not limited to):

  • Assistance with course planning
  • On-boarding and getting to know your program better
  • Serving as a mentor during your course of study
  • Discussing course requirements, internships, and other expectations your program may have
  • Discussing career goals for after graduation
  • General source of knowledge

Finding Your Advisor

If you need to look up your advisor’s contact information, you can do so in the MyBU Student Portal

For additional information on navigating the MyBU Student Portal, you can visit Students: Advisor Information Lookup

The advisor / advisee relationship is a two-way street, and while there are points of time throughout the year your advisor may reach out to you, it is good practice to be proactive and reach out to your advisor.
