Assen Marintchev, PhD, Physiology & Biophysics, is a scientist whose long-standing objective has been to provide a detailed structural and dynamic picture of the protein translation initiation in human cells, and its regulation. These interactions and the mechanisms they entail underlie pathological processes disrupting the integrated stress response, which, in turn, leads to a wide range of diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders in particular.
