Volunteer Basis, Potential for UROP Funding

Overview

I am host of the Global Health Politics Podcast, a podcast that features intimate conversations with scholars, policymakers, authors, and activists working in the field of global health. The podcast – available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon, and other leading platforms – is quickly filling an important niche in the podcast landscape and currently reaches listeners in 120 countries. In January, we featured New York Times best-selling author John Green talking about his new book, Everything is Tuberculosis. And this past April, we featured a discussion with senior policymakers talking about the dismantling of USAID and the consequences for global health. I am seeking students who are interested in joining the podcast production team. Experience with podcasting is not required but valuable if you have it. Work involves listening to, editing, and polishing recorded podcast conversations so that they are packaged professionally and ready to be consumed by our fast-growing audience. We use Audacity – a free to download app – for production and we Otter.ai to produce transcripts that need to be lightly edited to improve search engines’ ability to find us. We provide what you need as well as training to use both apps. Past team members have been volunteers who work irregularly as needed when new podcasts conversations come in often in 5-10 hour chunks over the course of a few weeks. Team members receive credit for their work on the podcasts and transcripts they produce. Also interested in taking on volunteers who can help promote and market the podcast.
