As you’re considering what devices to purchase for your on-campus residence, please note that not all wireless-capable devices support BU’s wireless or wired networks.

The device is not supported and will not work on campus if it:

  • Does not support enterprise authentication with both a username and password
  • Does not have an ethernet port

Examples of unsupported devices include, but are not limited to:

  • Amazon Echo (including Echo Dot)
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick
  • Apple Watch (when disconnected from the iPhone)
  • Wireless printers
  • Roku Streaming Stick
  • Google Home
  • Chromecast
  • Vizio Smart TVs
  • Smart Plugs
  • Smart Lights/Philips Hue
  • Home automation tools/appliances
