SARP welcomes and encourages student involvement in our prevention and awareness work on campus! There are several ways to get involved. Check out all the different ways terriers can make a difference.
Trainings
Step Up Step In BU
Step up Step in BU (SUSIBU) is the University’s primary
sexual violence prevention program. SUSIBU is an interactive
training that raises awareness about the prevalence of sexual assault and what we as members of the BU community can do
to prevent it.
By the end of SUSIBU, we hope for participants to identify themselves as pro-social bystanders who have a role in safely intervening in situations that may lead to a harmful outcome such as sexual assault.

Step Up Step In BU 2
Step Up Step In BU 2 (SUSIBU2) is a one-hour follow-up program for Terriers who have already attended Step Up Step In BU (SUSIBU). In SUSIBU2 students discuss the obstacles of intervening in difficult situations, and brainstorm realistic options of how we can still intervene.

Consent & Sex Positivity Training
This program is a sex-positivity and consent training derived from a sexual health educator’s, Al Vernacchio, Ted Talk, and curriculum.
This training is an opportunity for college-aged participants to discuss the impact of the messages they have received about sex, challenge the unhealthy ones they have received, and replace them with messages centered on sex-positivity and consent.

This Dating Life
This Dating Life is a pilot program that educates participants on the key components of a healthy relationship, how to have healthy boundaries and how to identify signs of unhealthy and abusive relationships. Participants will walk away from the program feeling more empowered to be able to identify when a relationship is healthy, unhealthy or abusive. The training also provides the participants with resources and tools on how to get help.

Volunteer Opportunities
SARP Ambassador
SARP Ambassadors are a community of students who work together in the mission to
build community, promote sex-positivity, and drive change to prevent sexual and
interpersonal violence at Boston University (BU). They assist in the planning and
implementation of SARP events and initiatives, implement programs, provide valuable
feedback on campus sexual violence initiatives, and facilitate important conversations
with other BU students.

SARP Actor
SARP Actors will work in collaboration with SARP staff to write and perform skits about
sexual misconduct prevention at Incoming Student Orientation (ISO). The skits focus
primarily on bystander intervention, exploring how as prosocial bystanders we can
intervene in a situation to effect the outcome in a positive way.
