All-University Commencement

From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer

The All-University Commencement scheduled for Sunday, May 22 at Nickerson Field is just about two weeks away.

If you plan to march in the academic procession at Commencement, I ask that you please submit the RSVP form. You should have received specific information regarding Commencement earlier this semester. Please remember that the faculty robing area is in Claflin Hall. The assembly area can be reached via the walkway adjacent to 985 Commonwealth Avenue; University marshals will be in place to assist you. More detailed information regarding Commencement can be found at www.bu.edu/commencement.

Robert Woodward, investigative journalist and associate editor of The Washington Post, will deliver Boston University’s 149th Commencement Address during the ceremony. Marylou Sudders, Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services and BU graduate, will deliver the Baccalaureate Address earlier in the day at Marsh Chapel. Both will receive honorary degrees.

Others who will receive honorary degrees are: Frederick Wiseman, filmmaker, documentarian, and theater director; Gay McDougall, international human rights advocate; and Richard Shipley, president of the Shipley Foundation, BU trustee emeritus, and alum.

Your presence at Commencement is greatly appreciated by our graduates and their families and friends. I hope you will join us for what promises to be a wonderful ceremony.
