NCAA Compliance

From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer
and Todd Klipp, Senior VP, Senior Counsel, and Board Secretary

Boston University supports an intercollegiate athletics program that strives for excellence in sportsmanship, academics, and community while competing within the NCAA Division I environment.  This affiliation carries with it a responsibility to follow the extensive rules and regulations of the NCAA.  As a member of the BU community, you may have interactions with prospective and enrolled student-athletes that could affect our compliance with those rules.

A brochure, entitled “Playing by the Rules,” (which may be accessed online via this link: http://www.goterriers.com/compliance/bost-compliance.html) is intended to provide basic information and guidance concerning NCAA rules in a straightforward format that highlights common problem areas.  Although it does not cover all possible scenarios, it is a helpful primer on the most frequently asked questions.

Please take a moment to review this brochure and use it as a guide to helping the Department of Athletics remain in compliance with NCAA rules.  Should you have any questions or need advice regarding specific situations, please contact Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Mike Lynch at 617-353-1905 or mplynch@bu.edu.

Thank you for your attention and your assistance with this important matter.
