Course Reserves & Exams

The library maintains a core collection of materials in the reserve areas behind the Fineman Circulation desk, including hornbooks, major treatises, study aids, newspapers, and other frequently used items.

Course Reserve

The library automatically adds at least one copy of all materials listed on the book lists for J.D. and LL.M. students to course reserves, with the exception of statutory or regulatory supplements. Law faculty teaching courses may add any additional items to reserve they feel would be of interest to students in their classes. Please send your reserve requests as far in advance as possible to ensure the materials will be available when needed. Faculty members are responsible for obtaining permissions from copyright holders for any copied materials.

Please Ask Us if you have any questions about course reserves.

Any personal materials you place on reserve, both books and photocopies, are restricted to use within the library.  If you would like students to be able to borrow these materials for a longer period, please let us know when you supply the materials.  All personal materials are returned to faculty at the end of each semester.

Electronic Reserves

We are happy to link to any electronic documents that you provide and would like to make available for your students.  Please Ask Us to add electronic reserve materials.

Most materials available on licensed databases may be linked from Blackboard Learn course pages.  Your librarian liaison can provide links to specific sources to be included on course pages.

Films for Classroom Use

The library owns a small collection of films for classroom use. These films may be found in the library catalog. The BU Krasker Film/Video collection consists of over 18,500 film and video titles for classroom use in current University classes. Please contact Krasker directly for assistance in locating or obtaining movies held in their collection for classroom use.

Law Exams

The Registrar’s Office collects exams each semester and sends those that are approved by faculty for publication to the library.  Exams published in fall 2000 to present are scanned to provide online access to law students.  You may view online exams by Faculty name or Course title.  Exams are available to current BU law faculty and law students only.

Faculty who wish to replace the scanned copy with a cleaner electronic copy should send the document to us so we can convert it document to PDF and put it on the website.  Faculty members who have older BU Law exams in electronic format may also send these to us for inclusion in the online exam database.

Please note: memos, best answers, etc. will continue to be placed on course or electronic reserves as requested by faculty.
