Join us for the 23rd annual WIPIP Colloquium hosted by Boston University School of Law. This is one of the largest academic conferences on intellectual property law, bringing together scholars from the United States and around the world. The Colloquium provides scholars with a forum to present academic works-in-progress and to receive early feedback from colleagues.

The conference will begin with breakfast on February 27 and will run until the conference dinner that evening. The conference will continue on February 28, concluding in the afternoon.

Directions to BU Law

Driving Directions

From South or West

Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) East to Exit 18, Allston/ Cambridge. Exit left. Follow signs to Cambridge to the second set of lights. Turn right at the lights; this is Soldiers Field Road/Storrow Drive. Exit Storrow Drive at the Kenmore exit.

From Southeast

Take I-93/Route 3 (Southeast Expressway) North to Boston. Exit onto Storrow Drive (Exit 26). Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit.

From North

Take I-93 or Route 1 South to Boston. Exit onto Storrow Drive (Exit 26). Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit.

From the North Shore/Logan Airport

Take Route 1-A through the Sumner Tunnel. Follow signs onto the Expressway North. Take the Back Bay/Storrow Drive exit (Exit 26), and follow signs onto Storrow Drive. Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit.

Local Directions

At the first set of traffic lights from the Kenmore exit, turn right onto Beacon Street. The road will then fork; the right fork is Bay State Road. The left fork will take you into Kenmore Square. In the Square, bear right onto Commonwealth Avenue. The School of Law is located at 765 Commonwealth Avenue.  The closest pay-to-park lot to the law school is the Granby Street Lot (Lot N), which is located at 665 Commonwealth Avenue.

By Taxi (300 Bay State Road) or if Parking in the CAS Lot (Lot J – 240 Bay State Road)

At the first set of traffic lights off of the Storrow Drive Kenmore exit, turn right onto Beacon Street. The road will then fork; the left fork will take you into Kenmore Square.  The right fork is Bay State Road.  Take the right onto Bay State Road and continue all the way down Bay State (through 3 stop signs) and go straight through the intersection with Granby Street.

The CAS Lot (Lot J – 240 Bay State Road) is located on the left.  There is a parking lot attendant located in the booth at the lot entrance.  This is not a pay-to-park lot, only guest parking passes and staff parking permits can be used in this lot.

If taking a taxi to BU Law, it is best to give 300 Bay State Road as your drop-off and pick-up location.  The taxi will then arrive in the circle in front of the law tower and not out on Commonwealth Avenue.

By Public Transportation

Boston University is easily accessible by public transportation. The “B” branch of the MBTA Green Line passes through the campus along Commonwealth Avenue. Directions to the “B” line are as follows:

From Red Line

Take the Red Line train to Park Street Station; transfer to the Green Line “B” Train, west/out bound.

From the Blue Line (including Logan Airport)

Take the Blue Line Train to Government Center; transfer to the Green Line “B” Train, west/out bound.

From the Orange Line

Take the Orange Line Train to Downtown Crossing; follow the underground concourse to the Green Line Park Street Station, then board the “B” Train, west/out bound.

From the Green Line

From Lechmere, Science Park, North Station, or Haymarket – Take any train to Government Center; transfer to the “B” Train. From the Suburban “C” (Cleveland Circle) or “D” (Riverside) Lines – Take any train Inbound to Kenmore Square; change to the outbound platform and board the “B” Train. From the “E” (Heath Street) Line–Take any train Inbound to Arlington Station; change to the outbound platform and board the “B” Train. The “B” branch of the MBTA Green Line passes through the campus along Commonwealth Avenue. Get off at the Boston University (BU) Central stop and cross the street. The School of Law is the 17-story building located directly behind Marsh Chapel and to the left.

 

Parking Information

There are three parking lots on the Boston University campus that are open for public parking. The Granby Lot (Lot N) is located at 665 Commonwealth Avenue and the Agganis Arena Garage (Lot A/C – 2) is located at 925 Commonwealth Avenue and these are the closest pay-to-park lots to the George Sherman Union. In addition, there are numerous metered parking spots on BU’s campus. The meters are in operation from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. at a rate of $1.25 per hour or $0.25 for 12 minutes with a 2-hour maximum. Please note that the metered parking spots are owned & operated by the City of Boston, not Boston University, and the rates & regulations are strictly enforced.

Guests can call the Hotel Commonwealth direct at (617) 532-5019. The cut-off date is currently set for Tuesday January 27th, 2026.
