BU Law has a rolling admissions process, which means applications are evaluated and candidates are informed of admissions decisions throughout the application cycle. We encourage applicants to apply as early as possible.

BU Law’s strong preference is that all applicants submit an LSAT score to complete their application. When completing your application, you will indicate if you plan to take any future LSAT administrations. Please be aware that your application will be considered incomplete and not be reviewed until the test scores you listed have been received. If you decide not to take a future LSAT on the date(s) you list, please inform the Admissions Office to prevent a delay in the review of your application.

You may apply with a GRE score only if you receive prior approval from the Admissions Office.

The January 2027 LSAT administration is the latest recommended test date for candidates seeking admission to the 2027 entering class. A score is reportable for up to five testing years after the testing year in which the score is earned. LSAT testing years run from July 1 through June 30. See LSAC.org for more information.

Yes, all applicants must register with the Credential Assembly Service during the current processing year.

We read each application in its entirety and holistically. That is, there is no combination of GPA and test score that necessarily results in admission or denial, and, in fact, the importance of these numbers in any application will vary according to how much and what other kinds of information are in the file. While numbers are never determinative, strong academics are a large part of the application process.

Additionally, we take into consideration all the pieces of your application – letters of recommendation, your personal statement, resume, and transcripts, along with any optional essays or addenda. We are not looking for specific experiences, but for people who have demonstrated abilities and capacity for growth and a background that will enable them to contribute positively to the life of BU Law and to the legal profession. No, we do not offer interviews as part of the admissions process. However, applicants are welcome to schedule an appointment with an admissions counselor. These appointments are non-evaluative and are designed for applicants to gather information and ask questions in an informal setting.

No, all first year JD students must start in the fall semester.

The Admissions Committee makes every effort to notify applicants of a decision in a timely manner. However, since no two applications are the same, there is no guaranteed timeline for you to receive a decision. Please be assured that the Admissions Committee reviews each application in its entirety.

BU Law encourages students to apply in the year you want to attend. However, deferral requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
