Initiative on Cities to co-host Our Towns Tomorrow
How can New England’s small and medium-sized cities and towns best leverage infrastructure investment to support economic growth, resilience, and strong communities? The Initiative on Cities is joining the New England Chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council to host Our Towns Tomorrow: Infrastructure Investment and Economic Development in New England’s Towns and Cities, a breakfast discussion on Monday, June 17. IOC Executive Director Katharine Lusk will offer introductory remarks for a conversation with Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Jay Ash on the future of the MassWorks Program and what it means for Massachusetts communities.
Following the breakfast will be an eye-opening discussion with Charles Marohn, PE, AICP, President of Strong Towns, a national leader in infrastructure and planning for municipalities, who will share practical advice on directing infrastructure investment for prosperous, resilient and fiscally sound municipalities and neighborhoods. Douglas Foy, founder and CEO of Serrafix and former Massachusetts Secretary of Commonwealth Development will facilitate the discussion.
