IoC Announces the Urban Seminar Series: The Open City
The Initiative on Cities is proud to announce the first installment of the Urban Seminar Series, The Open City, to take place from noon-1:30pm on September 18th at the IoC Office, 75 Bay State Road. Members of the Boston University community, and the public at large, are encouraged to attend.
This inaugural session will feature a panel discussion on “The Open City: How Can Open Data Serve the Public Interest?” Sucharita Gopal (Professor of Earth & Environment, BU), Nigel Jacob (Executive in Residence, BU; Co-Founder, New Urban Mechanics), and Dan O’Brien (Executive Director of Research at the Boston Area Research Initiative) will lead the discussion.
Hosted by the IoC at 75 Bay State Road, the Urban Seminar Series will bring together BU faculty and experts in the field to speak on timely urban issues. Additional Seminars are being planned for the fall: The Resilient City on November 6th and The Inclusive City on December 4th.
The IoC is delighted to be working with Japonica Brown-Saracino, Associate Professor of Sociology and Nathan Phillips, Professor of Earth & Environment, the Urban Seminar Series Co-Chairs.
Admission is free and lunch will be provided.
