Boston Summer Fellowship: Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics
The Initiative on Cities (IOC) Fellowship awards one Boston University graduate student the opportunity to spend the summer working with the City of Boston, within the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics (MONUM). This fellow will have the opportunity to explore an interest in public service and civic innovation while having a positive impact on the surrounding community.

BU Arts Initiative Grants
To encourage the continued development of an intellectual community around the arts and arts practice at BU and enhance our student-life experience, the BU Arts Initiative offers research grants for graduate and undergraduate research, as well as grants to faculty, students, and staff for projects that directly engage students in the arts. Committees of faculty, staff, and students review all proposals. All BU Arts Initiative arts grants are subject to fiscal year restrictions and must be used in the fiscal year awarded.
BU Translation Prizes
The Department of World Languages & Literatures awards prizes to undergraduate and graduate students who translate a work of poetry, fiction, or drama into English.
BU Professional Development Grants for Doctoral Students
The BU Office of the Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs offers professional development grants to support doctoral students’ participation in professional development opportunities outside of BU.
CAS Communications Internships
The College of Arts & Sciences hires undergraduate and graduate interns to tell our stories, publicize our achievements, and build community within our diverse liberal arts school. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Core Writing Fellow
The Core Curriculum invites applications for GRS doctoral students who are enthusiastic about supporting writing instruction in our first- and second-year humanities sequences. Core is a learning community that offers interdisciplinary study of transformative pre-modern and modern texts and ideas in small-class discussion seminars.

The BU Office of the Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs supports professional development programming and resources for doctoral students.
Institute for Global Sustainability
The Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), in collaboration with BU Sustainability and the Office of Research, invites project proposals from BU student and mentor teams to use BU’s campuses as living labs for sustainability research. Mentors can be faculty or graduate students. These projects aim to generate new knowledge on climate change impacts, adaptation, and mitigation, with a focus on implementing just and equitable solutions. Learn more.
Jewish Cultural Endowment
The Jewish Cultural Endowment (JCE) supports Jewish cultural programs across the University, sponsoring lectures, conferences, literary events, curricular enhancement, and artistic performances and exhibitions. Its mission is to foster an appreciation of Jewish culture in all its richness and diversity. Deadlines vary.
Pardee Center Graduate Summer Fellows Program
The Pardee Center Graduate Summer Fellows Program offers graduate students from across Boston University an opportunity for intensive interdisciplinary research and writing on topics aligned with the future-focused research interests of BU’s Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future.
