Helping Students in Distress
Life as a student holds many challenges, and it’s not uncommon for students to face distress—academic and personal. No one’s in it alone—BU is here to guide you, whether you want to address troubles of your own, or have a peer, classmate, coworker, or friend who is in distress.
Student Health Services (SHS). Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) at SHS provide 24/7 mental health support. These services are available year-round to help students navigate mental health challenges. Survivor Advocacy Response and Prevention (SARP) offers confidential counseling and advocacy for students who have experienced traumatic events such as sexual assault, dating violence, or other forms of interpersonal violence. Speaking with a SARP counselor is private and does not initiate a formal complaint with the University. To learn more or access support, visit bu.edu/shs.
