On the Road Catching Up with Terriers

890a

Walking around New York and chatting with folks nearby makes me feel like I’m home, again – the familiar accents and swagger; I heard some Billy Joel on the Island; can watch a decent handball game; catch a real slice; and, finally, someone gives me a smile of solidarity when I ask about the Mets.

I love being back in New York – where I grew up – seeing the places and remembering the experiences that sent me into the world. I look forward to seeing new and old Terriers as part of my trip back to NYC.

This evening I’m catching up with a few folk at one of our Summer Sendoffs in Long Island.  We’ve got gracious and wonderful hosts; I’m bringing a few of people from Boston University excited to meet new family; and, in addition to the eats, we’re setting up a vibe for great conversation and getting to know each other.

Peace.

Dispatch out of San Francisco (from Dean DeLuca)

The Summer Send Off Reception – hosted by Jennifer and Dan Niles in San Francisco was spectacular; we had a full house of engaged, eager, super enthusiastic and service-minded new Boston University Students.  The parents were super cool and relaxed. Students connected like I have never seen, and the parents were fantastic (and, acting like parents, with lots of good questions).

The hosts Dan and Jennifer Niles — Class of 1989 — were warm, kind, generous and hospitable. The food and their residence was fantastic (with views were absolutely stunning).  Students did not want to leave — after two and half hours the final guests departed!

My personal thanks and shout out to Dale Robbins, Nancy Lyons, and Development and Alumni Relations for their help, support and assistance at the highly successful San Francisco event.

Congratulations to one and all for their continued outstanding work in making these shindigs go off seamlessly!

Stay well and safe travels to all,

Best,

Daryl DeLuca

Assistant Dean of Students
