Food Waste Facts

Americans waste enough food every day to fill three Fenway Park stadiums, and one-third of that occurs at the retail and consumer levels (think grocery stores, restaurants, and your refrigerator). Add to that all of the food packaging waste, and you’ve got a monstrous issue.

At Boston University, we take food waste and food packaging waste seriously. All of our dining locations have initiatives in place to reduce waste even before you take your first bite. Read on to learn more about how Boston University Dining Services reduces, reuses and recycles food waste.
