About Geoffrey Poister

Dr. Poister has worked in the television and film industry for the last 15 years on nationally broadcast documentaries for the PBS series Nova and numerous independent projects. His recent documentaries The Spirit of Hiroshima and Jazz Dreams received Telly and Accolade Awards and have been broadcast in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. His most recent documentary, A Tale of Two Teens, was co-produced with broadcast journalism professor Susan Walker, and explores AIDS in South Africa from the perspective of teenage girls. He has developed documentary programs for PBS and McGraw-Hill and has produced eight programs for a documentary series aired on public television in New England. In 1995, he started Intercultural Films to produce programs on cultural issues. He also works as a producer, writer and cinematographer. Before entering the film and television industry, Poister studied jazz at Berklee College of Music and released two albums of original compositions.
