About Tong Wu
Prior to BU
During Jan to May 2018, I was an intern editor of China Development Gateway at China.org.cn, of China Internet Information Center (CIIC). Since they had lots of cooperation with international organizations mainly focus on poverty reduction and economic development, therefore, I could make some informational and promotional videos for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States, the World Bank Office in Beijing, and CIIC themselves etc.
Why Emerging Media Studies
Big data and social media are quite popular and important in today's societies worldwide, and my hometown is also following the world’s pace in emerging media usage. The way of our life, studying, also working, are getting more and more easier and smarter because of the use of those emerging technologies. However, I think there are still lots of questions, vague concepts, new phenomenon, and undetected knowledge in these areas. Therefore, to acquire more advanced knowledge to help promote social exchange and development across cultures, I choose EMS at BU for further study.
Most Looking Forward To
Cultures, knowledge, friends, independent thinking skills, and international vision.
After Graduation
First, I would try to find an internship around Boston. While after one year’s working, I plan to go back to China and engage in new media related industries, or work at PR/communication apartment for companies/ organizations.
A Bit About Me
My Chinese name is translated as “Tong Wu”, however, I got some interesting nick names when I studied at Purdue. One of my favorite instructors called me “Tony” when he first saw my hand writing name. And another instructor called me “Tom” while she is asking me to answer a question in class. It was cute and funny, however, the correct writing should be “Tong” and my first name pronounced “tone”.
