Why Emerging Media Studies at Boston University

After graduating from a journalism school where I acquired my Bachelor's Degree, I wanted to shift the gear a little toward media study and training to become more competitive in the job market. When I was checking the website of the EMS Division, I was informed of the fact that this program is one of the nation’s first graduate programs focusing on a subject that grows more critical to our world every day: emerging media. Here, I interpret the word "emerging" as both "now" and "future" (plus, we also compare emerging media with traditional ones). Doesn't it sound exciting to learn what is happening and going to happen in such an important part of our life? In terms of course requirements, students are not only taught comprehensively in theory, research, analytics and production aspects of emerging media, but also given the freedom to choose from a pool of classes in their interest as electives to further prepare for future academic or professional paths.

In addition, Boston, along with the greater metropolis area, is a historically, culturally, academically and athletically famed city and a more than nice place to live and study. I have studied in Midwest and worked on the west coast, and now it's time for some eastern flavors.

My Plan For AfterGraduation

With knowledge and skills obtained by the end of the EMS program, I look forward to a media technology-related position as the starting point of my career. That being that, I will be open and excited to take positions I am qualified for anywhere in the media world, since every part of it is worth exploring and learning.

One Final Note

I greatly appreciate my parents for supporting me to study abroad since the third year in my undergrad. They respect every choice I have made and constantly give me advice on small and big affairs during my life overseas. My parents, family and hometown will be always in my heart wherever I am.
