COM mourns passing of Jack Falla

On Sunday morning, the Boston University community lost an adored member of its faculty. Jack Falla was an exceptional author, a gifted professor and a dedicated mentor. He loved to teach and motivate his students through his experiences and stories from his travails as a sportswriter. Jack, a two-time College of Communication alum (BS ‘67 & MS ‘90), had most recently published two books, Saved and Open Ice: Reflections and Confessions of a Hockey Lifer. Our sympathies go out to his entire family, including wife Barbara, son Brian, daughter Tracey and beloved grandchildren Demetre and Ella. A teacher, mentor and friend, he was COM’s hat trick. Please share your memories of Jack and thoughts on his passing on our tribute page.

Donations to the newly established Jack Falla Fund can be made online or mailed to the College of Communication at Boston University, 640 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA  02215.

A Jack Falla Memorial Fund Event will take place on Wednesday, November 12th from 6-9 p.m. at Agganis Arena. More details will be posted here soon, but if you want to have information sent to you as soon as it is available, please email Micha Sabovik, COM Assistant Dean at msabovik@bu.edu to be put on the mailing list.
