Martina Radwan, a German-Syrian, is an award winning filmmaker and the director of ONE LAST ADVENTURE: THE MAKING OF STRANGER THINGS 5. Understanding the power of images and filmmaking, Martina goes beyond the surface and often shines a light on those who are overlooked in her work.
After a decade of storytelling, Season 5 marks the conclusion of Stranger Things, and the end of an era for the Duffer Brothers, their cast, and long-term collaborators. Unlike a conventional behind-the-scenes featurette, ONE LAST ADVENTURE offers an immersive chronicle of creation. Embedded on the Atlanta-based set for an entire year, director Martina Radwan was granted unprecedented access to the Duffer Brothers, venturing deep into their creative process and witnessing firsthand the passion, pressure and imagination behind the making of the landmark final season.
Drawing on her extensive experience across high-profile narrative and documentary projects, Radwan approaches the film with a storyteller’s sensibility, foregrounding craftsmanship, collaboration and creative decision-making. The result is a cinematic love letter to filmmaking that reflects both the ambition of the series and the enduring legacy it leaves behind.
Recently, Martina directed TOMORROW, TOMORROW, TOMORROW, which premiered at DOC NYC in 2023 and chronicles the story of the ethical and emotional challenges that ensue when an American cinematographer decides to financially support three Mongolian orphans. For her cinematography work, Martina received an Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography – Nonfiction for her work on GIRLS STATE in 2024. Other recent work includes THE ONLY GIRL IN THE ORCHESTRA (the 2025 Academy Award Winner for Short Documentary), FOLLOWING HARRY, ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE?, FOOD AND COUNTRY, THE FIRE THAT TOOK HER (the 2023 Emmy Winner for Outstanding Crime and Justice Documentary), INVENTING TOMORROW (winner of the 2020 Peabody Award), and THE FINAL YEAR.
Martina is a member of the Academy and BAFTA Documentary Branch, as well as the Television Academy's Documentary Programming.
