Natural Product Profiling

Description

The BU-CMD is able to facilitate the distribution of your small sets (~20 compounds or less) of synthesized natural product or natural-product-like molecules to one or more compound Profilers for immediate assessment in several therapeutic areas.

Goals

The overarching goal of this program is to enhance the impact of your synthetic chemistry publications with relevant biodata for the compounds synthesized. If intriguing activity is identified, our Profilers may have additional interest in pursuing collaborative funding for downstream research on the compounds.

Please note: If you do not have immediate, focused, justifiable profiling needs for your compounds, submission to the BU-CMD collection for general screening is preferred.

Capabilities

Capabilities of our Natural Product Profiler sub-consortium include antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and anticancer assays.

Please see this page for more information on our current Profilers, and the assays they are generally able to easily provide. If an area of interest is not listed, we can help connect you to new potential Profilers of interest to you.

What we need from you

To gain access to profiling, we request the following three items from you:

  1. Structures and estimated available amounts of compound(s) to be tested
  2. Rational justification for the requested profiling with literature references, including:
    • Specific references describing the natural products (or the natural products that your natural-product-like molecules closely resemble).
    • Specific references justifying the known or proposed activities to be profiled.
  3. Information on your future publication plans for this data. Please note, you must be willing to include our profilers as co-authors on publications which incorporate their profiling data.

Next steps

Upon receipt of your profiling request, we will identify potential matches and send a packet with your structures and references as a part of a request for assay.
