A minor in Latin requires a minimum of five courses.

The requirements are as follows:

  1. One course in Roman History or Civilization
    • CL102 World of Rome
    • CL322 Roman History
  2. Four courses in Latin Language and Literature above CL115
    • CL211 Latin 3
    • CL212 Latin 4
    • CL351 Latin Seminar (May be repeated for credit)
    • CL451 Advanced Latin Seminar (May be repeated for credit)

* One course may be taken in translation

  • CL229 Roman Comedy
  • CL230 Golden Age of Latin Literature
  • CL302 Age of Augustus
  • CL303 Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire
  • CL314 Women in Ancient Rome

 

This minor will be receiving new requirements which are in the final approval stage. We anticipate that final confirmation for these changes will come before the next academic year (2026-2027). The following are the proposed changes:

Minor in Classical Languages: 6 courses

  • CAS CL101, CL102, CL321, or CL322
  • Five courses in Ancient Greek and/or Latin
    • One of which must be at the 300-level or above
