Nicole Hultquist (she/her) is a third-year Ph.D. student in anthropology whose research uses stable isotope analysis to investigate animal management in past societies. She earned dual BS degrees in Chemistry and Anthropology from the University of Maryland and holds an MS in Anthropology from Trent University. Her work focuses on reconstructing herding strategies to better understand human-animal relationships in ancient societies. To learn more about Nicole’s research and publications, visit her webpage.
In Spring 2026, Isabel was awarded a summer mini-grant which will support her project aimed to determine the mobility and diets of llamas and alpacas in pre-Columbian Peru using stable isotope analysis to reconstruct past herding practices and animal management strategies.
